Mental Health Support Through The Relationship Centre

We understand that not everyone is ready to commit to therapy, and that’s okay. We’ve created several no-cost, educational options to help individuals, couples, and families begin their mental health journey with information, insight, and support:

Free Webinars
Each month, our team of therapists offers free, therapist-led webinars on a variety of mental health topics ranging from parenting and stress management to relationships and teen mental health/ emotional regulation. These are open to the public and provide a safe space to learn, reflect, and ask questions.

Educational Blog Posts
Our blog is updated regularly with professional insights and tips for navigating common challenges from managing anxiety and building healthy communication habits to recovering from burnout and understanding trauma responses. These are always free and written in a clear, supportive tone.

Affordable Therapy Options
In addition to full-fee services, we offer reduced-cost therapy with qualifying therapists and interns. This allows us to offer high-quality care to more members of our community, without financial barriers standing in the way.

Low-Cost and Sliding Scale Therapy Options

If you’re looking for ongoing support but finances are a concern, here are some options to explore:

Community Health Centres (CHCs)
Many CHCs offer mental health support as part of their community services. Counselling may be free or available on a sliding scale, depending on income. Services are often provided by social workers, psychotherapists, or supervised students.

University Counselling Clinics
Universities with graduate psychology or social work programs often run public-facing clinics where students provide therapy under supervision. These sessions are confidential, affordable, and ideal for those open to working with intern therapists.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
If you’re employed, check whether your workplace offers an EAP. These programs typically include a limited number of free therapy sessions and are 100% confidential and your employer doesn’t receive any personal information.

Non-Profit Organizations and Community Services
Groups like local Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) chapters, women’s shelters, family resource centres, and youth programs often provide access to free counselling, peer support, and mental health groups.

Barriers Still Exist But Support Is Growing

Many people still face barriers to accessing mental health care. These can include cost, stigma, long waitlists, or simply not knowing where to turn. But the landscape is changing. Support is becoming more accessible. More voices are speaking out. And more programs are stepping in to offer help in ways that are safe, inclusive, and affordable.

Your mental health is valid. Your story matters. And you deserve support—whether that begins with a blog post, a free webinar, or a helpline text.
