Everyone has a childhood; no person is without one. That childhood is what made you who you are; similarly, your child’s experiences will shape who they become. Parenting is hard. If you’re here, then perhaps you or your child may need some guidance and support on the journey you’re embarking on together, you as a parent and they, as your child. You’re in this together, and I would love to help you or your child navigate and process some of those difficulties we experience during childhood.
My work with children, especially the ones with busy minds, typically involves some level of active play. Depending on the child’s needs, this may be more active, artistic or passive. I consider the child’s temperament and needs, and I adjust my energy to match them. Perhaps your child is struggling with anxiety, overwhelming sadness, anger or emotional dysregulation. I gear my interventions to be warm and nurturing, establishing trust and safety, and I choose materials that support the environment I am trying to make. Trust takes time. I am adaptable and engage the child in things that are interesting to them while we establish that trusting relationship.
I specialize in neurodivergence, with children, adolescents and adults. Having navigated the world as a neurodivergent child myself, I understand children on a deep level and often have a great deal of insight into how they see the world and navigate within it. This is one of the reasons I embarked on this journey to become a Child and Family Therapist. To help children feel seen and heard, even in a world that they might not feel they fit into.
I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator, Child Development Specialist and a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist. I have worked alongside children and families for over ten years. I use a combination of attachment-informed approaches with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques. I provide individual parenting sessions, where I help you help your child. This technique is often called Therapeutic Parenting. You know your child the most in this world.
I come from a large family with whom I am very close, being the youngest of four siblings and having adult relationships with them now. I have learned that quality family relationships are a core value of mine, and I wish to help you and yours find healing, happiness and pursue growth together.
