FAQ's About Affordable Therapy
What is the cost of affordable therapy?
$100/per session. Each session is 50 minutes with your therapist and the remaining 10 minutes is spent on documentation and preparing for your next session.
Are the therapists licensed?
Our BSW Therapists are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. While our Masters Student Interns are not eligible to be registered with the college until completion of their program, they go through a rigorous application process both with their schools and The Relationship Centre to ensure they can provide care consistent with the standards we are known for and their practice is closely supervised to ensure high quality is provided to every client.
How do I know if I am eligible for the affordable therapy program?
In speaking with our Client Care Coordinator and sharing information about your current struggles, they would determine if your needs could be effectively met by one of our Masters Student Interns or BSW Therapists. If they were unsure, they would consult with our Clinical Director.
What happens if I start therapy with a Masters Student Intern or a BSW Therapist and they aren’t experienced enough to help me?
Your Masters Student Therapist or BSW Therapist would consult with our Clinical Director to review your case to make a determination related to this. If the decision was made that your needs would not be best met by your current therapist, your therapist would meet with you to discuss this and explore the option of transferring to a more highly trained therapist on our team or explore other alternative community referral options for you.
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
Signs your child may need support include frequent meltdowns, sleep issues, withdrawal, anxiety, school refusal, or trouble focusing. If your instinct says something isn’t right, we’re here to help.
Can I switch to more specialized care if I wish?
Yes. We are here to help you meet your needs in the best way possible. We would discuss your needs and match you the best, more highly trained therapist to help you meet your needs.
Is there a difference in the duration and frequency of therapy.?
No, our sessions are all 50 minutes in length and we always recommend starting therapy with weekly sessions – the research is clear that starting with weekly sessions results in people making improvements more quickly and with better long-term results.
How many sessions will I need to attend?
Each persons therapy plan is established specially for them so we cannot state how many sessions will be needed. And how quickly the therapy progresses is largely related to each person and their ability to engage with the work. But our goal is to have you attend therapy with our recommended frequency of weekly sessions so you can come in, do this work in a focused and engaged way, and then finish therapy so you can get on with your goal of living and enjoying your life.
Where is The Relationship Therapy Centre located?
Our main office is located at 393 Sidney Street, Unit 1, Belleville, Ontario K8P 3Z9. We also have an office in Kingston operating inside Forever Young Chiropractic at 510 Canatara Court. Each of these locations serves the surrounding areas of Trenton, Stirling, Tweed, Napanee, Picton, Deseronto, Madoc, Frankford, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Brighton, and Marmora. If you’re not nearby or prefer virtual sessions, we also provide online therapy to clients anywhere in Ontario.
Is what we discuss in sessions confidential?
Yes, everything we discuss in therapy is completely confidential. Your privacy is our top priority, and we adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to ensure that what you share in your sessions stays between you and your therapist. The only exceptions to this are in cases where there is a legal obligation to disclose information, such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, but we will always discuss this with you if it ever becomes necessary.
How do I schedule an appointment?
