Areas of Support for Affordable Therapy

Trauma-Informed Care:

Trauma-Informed Care recognizes the impact of past trauma on your current well-being. It ensures that therapy is conducted in a way that is sensitive to your experiences, helping you feel safe and supported while you heal.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR):

MBSR teaches you how to reduce stress through mindfulness practices like meditation and deep breathing. It’s a helpful way to stay grounded, reduce anxiety, and improve your overall well-being.

Solution-Focused Therapy:

This type of therapy focuses on finding solutions to current problems rather than digging into the past. It’s a great approach if you want to quickly identify practical steps to improve your situation and move forward.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT):

EFT is designed to help you understand and improve your emotional connections with others, particularly in relationships. It’s often used to build stronger, more positive bonds.

Approaches We Use In Affordable Therapy

At The Relationship Therapy Centre, our affordable therapy sessions, led by skilled interns and experienced professionals, use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and SFT to provide effective, compassionate care.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):

CBT is a practical, goal-oriented therapy that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. It’s like training your brain to think differently, which can help you manage anxiety, depression, and other challenges more effectively.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT):

DBT combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness practices. It’s especially helpful if you struggle with intense emotions, teaching you how to manage them better and improve your relationships.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT):

IPT focuses on improving your relationships and how you interact with others. It’s particularly helpful if you’re dealing with depression or other mood disorders and want to work on how you connect with people in your life.

Who We Help

Our affordable care therapists specialize in anxiety, depression, and life transitions, working with individuals—children, teens, and adults.

Individual Therapy

A space to work through anxiety, stress, trauma, or life changes. We help you feel lighter, build self-awareness, and improve your emotional well-being.

Child Therapy

A supportive space for children to make sense of big feelings and behaviours. We help them feel safe, understood, and better equipped to express themselves and grow.

Teen Therapy

A space for teens to explore emotions, manage stress, and navigate life’s challenges. We help them build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and feel more in control.

FAQ's About Affordable Therapy

$100/per session. Each session is 50 minutes with your therapist and the remaining 10 minutes is spent on documentation and preparing for your next session.

Our BSW Therapists are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. While our Masters Student Interns are not eligible to be registered with the college until completion of their program, they go through a rigorous application process both with their schools and The Relationship Centre to ensure they can provide care consistent with the standards we are known for and their practice is closely supervised to ensure high quality is provided to every client.

In speaking with our Client Care Coordinator and sharing information about your current struggles, they would determine if your needs could be effectively met by one of our Masters Student Interns or BSW Therapists. If they were unsure, they would consult with our Clinical Director.

Your Masters Student Therapist or BSW Therapist would consult with our Clinical Director to review your case to make a determination related to this. If the decision was made that your needs would not be best met by your current therapist, your therapist would meet with you to discuss this and explore the option of transferring to a more highly trained therapist on our team or explore other alternative community referral options for you.

Signs your child may need support include frequent meltdowns, sleep issues, withdrawal, anxiety, school refusal, or trouble focusing. If your instinct says something isn’t right, we’re here to help.

Yes.  We are here to help you meet your needs in the best way possible.  We would discuss your needs and match you the best, more highly trained therapist to help you meet your needs.

No, our sessions are all 50 minutes in length and we always recommend starting therapy with weekly sessions – the research is clear that starting with weekly sessions results in people making improvements more quickly and with better long-term results.

Each persons therapy plan is established specially for them so we cannot state how many sessions will be needed. And how quickly the therapy progresses is largely related to each person and their ability to engage with the work. But our goal is to have you attend therapy with our recommended frequency of weekly sessions so you can come in, do this work in a focused and engaged way, and then finish therapy so you can get on with your goal of living and enjoying your life.

Our main office is located at 393 Sidney Street, Unit 1, Belleville, Ontario K8P 3Z9.  We also have an office in Kingston operating inside Forever Young Chiropractic at 510 Canatara Court. Each of these locations serves the surrounding areas of Trenton, Stirling, Tweed, Napanee, Picton, Deseronto, Madoc, Frankford, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Brighton, and Marmora. If you’re not nearby or prefer virtual sessions, we also provide online therapy to clients anywhere in Ontario.

Yes, everything we discuss in therapy is completely confidential. Your privacy is our top priority, and we adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to ensure that what you share in your sessions stays between you and your therapist. The only exceptions to this are in cases where there is a legal obligation to disclose information, such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, but we will always discuss this with you if it ever becomes necessary.

To schedule an appointment, simply book a call with our care coordinator through this link: https://maryjoanbrinson.janeapp.com/. They’ll help you find the best therapist for your needs and guide you through the process.
