Hello, I am Mary Joan Brinson MSW, RSW, Founder & Director for The Relationship Centre. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and an approved supervisor candidate with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).

As a leading mental health private therapy practice, we are excited to open our doors to passionate and dedicated Master’s level placement students seeking a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Specialized Clinical Approach to Mental Health: Our practice is committed to a holistic approach to mental health, encompassing various therapeutic modalities to provide comprehensive care. We are especially drawn to Attachment Theory and Trauma Informed Care.
As a placement student, you have the opportunity to engage with diverse clients and gain hands-on experience in applying evidence-based treatments.
Experienced and Supportive Supervisors: At The Relationship Centre, we prioritize your growth and development by providing guidance and support as you navigate the complexities of therapy practice.
You receive regular supervision and feedback to enhance your skills and build your confidence in your therapeutic abilities.
Client-Centred Focus: Our practice places a strong emphasis on client-centred care. When you join our team, you get the chance to work closely with clients from various backgrounds, contributing to a well-rounded therapeutic experience.
Focused Approach to Relationship Dynamics: Our use of EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) provides rich learning into the interconnection of our emotions and relationship dynamics. Students develop the therapeutic skills to help clients heal and develop secure attachments with the people close to them.
Professional Designed Therapy Centre: Our Therapy Centre is spacious, bright, and modern, yet comfortable for our clients and team members. The moment people enter, you will instantly feel at ease and know you are in a safe place where you are cared for.
A Supportive and Collaborative Team: We have a diverse and dynamic team of therapists who understand the importance of giving and receiving clinical support and care. You learn from your Placement Supervisor and also have the opportunity to learn from our entire team of therapists.

Requirements for Placement Students

Enrolled in an Accredited Master’s Level Social Work, Counselling, Psychology program.
Demonstrate interest in a Clinically Focused Placement.
Availability for a minimum of 2 Clinical Days. This is where you will provide in-person therapy to adults. You may also work with teens, children, and couples depending on your interest and readiness.
